me and collection: indonesian vintage craft books

I found these series of vintage craft books on duplex
in Bandung a couple of weeks ago when I was in
town for a short visit. They were piles of them at the
back displays and thanks to that one buddy who found them!
He got himself an awesome vintage children book album
from the 1970's. Oh what a lucky lucky finds!

Saya menemukan seri buku-buku kerajinan tangan triplex
dari tahun 70 an ini di sebuah toko buku tua yang tak
kalah cantiknya di Bandung. Tertumpuk-tumpuk di
belakang bersama dengan buku-buku tua lainnya, 
untung saja teman saya yang satu ini selalu begitu jeli
dan teliti di setiap kunjungan kita di toko buku!

These are several labels of Indonesian paint products
from the 1950's.Made for bicycle, wood and other surface.
I love that guy with the hat as the mascot!

Label produk cat buatan Surabaya dari tahun 1950-an. 
Saya suka sekali lelaki berkopiah yang menjadi maskotnya. 
Ukuran aslinya juga kecil memanjang.

I honestly thinks that there is not enough Indonesian
artists that sells their stuff in etsy , therefore imagined
how excited I was to find Noemi's shop one day and
we quickly convos each other and promised to meet
up sometime soon. Aren't all these just so so pretty?

Saya senang sekali waktu suatu hari mendapat sms dari
Noemi setelah sebelumnya melihat tokonya di etsy dan
tentu saja langsung jatuh cinta dengan gaya ilustrasinya
yang feminin, lembut dan playful. Karenanya kemudian

me and old building: a pretty batik shop

I accidentally saw this pretty building one morning after 

accompanying a good friend picked up some books at this

huge second hand book market in the South of Jakarta. 

As I came closer to take this pictures I found out that it's

an old batik shop owned by this old chinese man.I really

really love those two big displays and the second floor!

Saya menemukan toko batik cantik ini tidak sengaja.

Ceritanya waktu itu menemani teman mengambil

pesanan bukunya di Blok M Square, jadi bayangkan

senangnya saya waktu mendekat dan menemukan

betapa diantara himpitan ruko-ruko baru masih ada

tersempil sebuah bangunan secantik ini. Yay!

me and collection: postcards! and more postcards!

I have been asked to send pictures of my postcard collections

by this local newspaper that features my hobby together with

the art on poskart exhibition that I curated last week. I have

some awesome art poskart of The Black Apple and KarenOhBuddy 

plus some local postcard series featuring our first president and

a series features some Hollywood babes. I have been also

exhibit them during the exhibition. Sure will collect some more:)

Suatu hari bersamaan dengan pembukaan pameran art on poskart

yang saya kuratori, saya diwawancara sebuah koran lokal untuk

bercerita tentang hobi mengumpulkan kartupos serta mesti 

mengirimkan foto-foto kartupos koleksi saya. Ini beberapa foto

yang saya kirimkan ke mereka. Ada kartu pos dari theblackapple 

dan juga KarenOhBuddy yang sangat saya sukai dan juga seri

kartupos Bung Karno dan beberapa bintang film Hollywood 

jaman dulu. Beberapa saya pamerkan juga selama pameran lho!

me and old house : a rad tattoo shop in Bogor

This is one of the pretty old house I know in Bogor which
was once used to accommodate a DIY gig and exhibition
there. This house has a huge front yard and the other side
of it is another old house being used as a tattoo and distro
shop own by some friends. I heard that it was being demolished
now to build a new building so I was glad to be able to
take pictures and hang out there a couple of times.

Saya suka rumah tua dan saya suka jendela. Foto ini diambil
dari sebuah rumah tua dengan halaman luas luar biasa di Bogor.
Rumah ini dan rumah sebelahnya, dengan ruang penghubung
diantaranya dulu sering digunakan untuk konser dan pameran
DIY (Do It Yourself) oleh beberapa teman saya sekaligus juga
digunakan untuk studio tato, distro dan rumah singgah. 
Sayangnya sekarang rumah ini sudah diratakan dengan tanah
untuk dibangun bangunan baru diatasnya.Untung saya sudah
sempat memotretnya!

me and exhibition: my first curating experience!

So this is one of THE exhibition that I have been preparing this month!
What makes it sooo special its because I'm also the curator apart of
exhibiting and showcasing my framed art postcard collections plus
selling some postcards on this event! You are all of course invited
and certainly wish so many friends of mine outside Indonesia could
come too:)

Tidak hanya saya akan berpameran namun juga saya akan
memamerkan kartu pos seni koleksi saya yang sudah dibingkai
serta menjual beberapa set kartu pos kolase saya disana.Dengan

me and post office : one saturday morning

This is another part of preparing that exhibition next month.
I went to my favorite old post office with a friend whose
also going to organize it. We would like to see and explore
the idea to invite some of those stamps and other postal
stationery there to join the event. But instead we had a blast
just checking out their stuff!

Sabtu pagi kemarin saya dan seorang teman pergi ke kantor
pos Pasar Baru untuk menjajaki kemungkinan untuk bekerja
sama dengan beberapa pedagang benda pos disana untuk sebuah
pameran yang akan kami buat bulan depan. Namun tentu saja
kami juga tidak bisa melewatkan kesempatan untuk 'sedikit'
berbelanja benda-benda pos tua yang cantik-cantik disana!

I have just start to collect Indonesian vintage or traditional labels.
These are some of them from our Batik products, an old money
and others. I thing I prefer to collect square and bigger size labels
but no one could will say no when findings these pretty paperie, right?

Koleksi label produk lokal dan antik dari Indonesia ini 
memang tidak banyak. Mungkin karena pada akhirnya
saya lebih suka mengkoleksi label yang bentuknya kotak 
dan ukurannya besar. Tapi kalau ada yang menawari,
siapa yang tidak tergoda membeli kan?

I got this pretty paperie swap from this talented sisters
for our secret project this month. Check out their rad
shops made of papers and yarn. And of course,
wait for our secret craft project soon!

Look what I found today! They all from 1950's and still in such a
great condition for vintage books. And I just realized that mostly
I found treasures at the second hand market where I didn't plan to
go there and look for something. Is that ever happened to you too?

Saya menemukan ketiga buku dari tahun 1950-an kemarin siang
saat menunggu teman di sebuah toko buku bekas langganan saya.
Yang satu novel picisan dari tahun 1955 dan satunya lagi adalah
komik dari tahun 1958. Keduanya kondisinya masih bagus sekali
dan saya baru sadar kalau saya selalu beruntung kalau memang
tidak sedang berniat untuk 'berburu'. 
Pernah mengalami hal yang sama?

me and gift tags: a little story

Do you know that gift tags is something totally new
in Jakarta and of course Indonesia? That means I have
to explaining to people every time I display and try to
sell them on my booth. But its all right, I always believe
that the process of introducing new stuff is really worth
it. Don't you agree?

me and collection : vintage music page

I found this vintage musical book from 1800's
at my usual vintage book spot. It's a clipping of
several books that being bind together by someone
in Surabaya, East Java. The book is in pretty good
shape although some pages are being cut and stick
with tapes here and there.
