I found these series of vintage craft books on duplex
in Bandung a couple of weeks ago when I was in
town for a short visit. They were piles of them at the
back displays and thanks to that one buddy who found them!
He got himself an awesome vintage children book album
from the 1970's. Oh what a lucky lucky finds!
Saya menemukan seri buku-buku kerajinan tangan triplex

me and exhibition: Codex Code!
It is a group exhibition where each artists make
a book as their exhibition material.Initiated from
an art collective in Jogja this exhibition will be
touring to Jakarta and Bandung afterwards.
I make a book made of hankies with machine
embroidery with a message of feelings being
wipe away by a hankies. That's the cover, but
I will share you in details soon;)
Saya diundang menjadi salah satu artis yang ikut
berpameran di Codex Code, sebuah pameran
dimana setiap artisnya membuat buku. Pameran
yang digagas oleh teman-teman dari Jogja dan
kemudian keliling ke Jakarta dan Bandung ini
membuat saya mencoba membuat sebuah buku
dari saputangan bekas yang dibordir dengan
pesan perasaan-perasaan yang diseka oleh selembar
saputangan:)

Sunny Sunday
Dear Frnss,
I would like to let you know how awesome it turned out
our spending Sunday together. Not only I got the chance
to show you some of my fave second hand books and
flea markets; but I was so happy that you found all these!
Thank you for the chat, iced coffee, walk in the park and
the following after friendship and of course the secret
projects that we will and have made so far. You are one
hell of a young man and I am so proud that you are my
friend.
Sincerely,
Vantiani.

me and collection : vintage music page
I found this vintage musical book from 1800's
at my usual vintage book spot. It's a clipping of
several books that being bind together by someone
in Surabaya, East Java. The book is in pretty good
shape although some pages are being cut and stick
with tapes here and there.
For more pretty pages of this beautifully old music
page check out my flickr, friends.

me and books: My Fairyland Annual

This book is instantly swoon me from the its title:My Fairyland Annual 1972! It's a hardcover, printed in
Italy and distributed by this UK publisher.
It's like a small bibliography of all fairy stories
and writers includes their statues!
Unfortunately I couldn't find the name of the
illustrator. So if any of you outhere could tell me
I will be very grateful. Aren't those colors just so good?
My favorite one is the Fairy Flowers page:)

me and collection: vintage science book

Another book from the 1970's that I foundtogether with my previous science book
that I blogged the last time. This one is about
sound. Written by David Knight and illustrated
beautifully by Ullrick Schramm.
I really really love all those strong colors
and the style of Ullrick's drawing is so cool.
Don't you agree, folks?

me and collages : a collective art book project

Some of my extremely talented friends from a bandcalled White Shoes and the Couples Company has
They invite ten of their friends to make a visual
intrepretation of the lyric from that single and publish
this awesome project in order to launch their new
single for the incoming new album this year.intrepretation of the lyric from that single and publish
it in a book that will be pack together with the CD.
Sweet, right?
Therefore I'm so happy when they invite me to
join on this book. The lyrics itself is about how
people from all over Indonesia come to Jakarta
to get a better life although they know how hard
life is in our capital city. The material should be
in black and white in A5 size. I made three pieces.
What do you think?

And I'm still try to find our local version of such a book,
unfortunately no luck yet. Have a fun friday you all!

me and collage: an old poetry book

I named her Lili. I made her out of an old thick notebook. At thattime I don't even know that these things called collage. I think I
slowly making her since 2000 starts with either written a poem
first or put the pictures first. I haven't been putting a new piece
on Lili for a year now although I'm still writing lots of poetry and
lyrics in my laptop named Daphne Descend. Yes, I named my
fave stuff. Don't you do the same sometime too?
Lili is more like a diary to me. Therefore I have been really picky
on whom that I share her with. Apart from my poetry, I also put
some poetry that my little sister or some long distance girlfriends
sent me, some poetry or lyrics from others that I like and
of course sometimes just for the sake of putting some lines that
I like with pictures on them. Now I'm thinking of making them
into art prints for my bed room. Hmmm....
